This client is a young family living in a Tarrytown Craftsman-style home that needed an unfinished basement to be thoughtfully reimagined to better serve the needs of a growing family. Housemade Design transformed the space into a warm, colorful, multi-purpose space designed for everyday living, creativity, and quality time.

The space was envisioned as a get messy family space – a place where parents and children can gather to watch movies, play games, get crafty, or simply unwind together after a busy day. Balancing functionality with comfort, the design incorporates durable, family-friendly materials, generous storage solutions for toys and art supplies, and flexible zones that adapt to a variety of activities.

Throughout the project, Housemade Design worked closely with the clients to honor the character of the home while introducing fun, contemporary elements that brighten the lower level.

Layered textures, a warm palette, and whimsical accents create an environment that feels approachable, ensuring the space grows alongside the family for years to come.
